further.
(Back to Part 1 – 10-27-02 AM)
The
Primary Text: Matthew 6:25-34
Introduction
In hearing these words, imagine this picture in
your mind… You are a poor Jewish man or woman. You probably live on a farm,
taking care of fields that belong to someone else, and paying excessive taxes
on your meager means to the Roman tax collectors.
You’re taking day off from the work to hear Jesus
preach on the mountainside. The sun is shining, the birds are singing, and the
wild lilies are all blooming.
6:25
– Don’t worry about your daily needs. Life is more than these
things.

6:30-32
– What do the pagans (or in our day and age, we might say those
who don’t know the Lord) run after? Do we sometimes chase after those same
things?
6:33
– Seek His Kingdom First
A.
To seek God’s Kingdom, is to submit more fully to
His reign in our lives, and to seek to bring others into his Kingdom. (put
scripture ref here to people taking the Kingdom by force)
B.
To seek God’s Kingdom is to . . .Isaiah 9:6-7, Matthew
10:7-8,11:12, Isaiah 35
6:34
– Don’t worry about tomorrow. Today is enough.
A.
This could be described as a life lived by the
attitude of the Lord’s Prayer: a life of gratitude for each new day.
