The JMB Archive

This is the beginning of my archive of ancient pages that are kinda interesting. These were made on a free server back in the good old days when the internet was "text" based, and I was just beginning to explore the web from my school.

Be sure and look for the old URL for Yahoo at Stanford University on one of these pages!

A history of my homepage

I created my first homepage at a free service that was at Ohio State University. I don't remember what the URL was, but it was at least 100 characters long. Since, they only allowed you to have ONE html document for page, and only 3000 or so bytes per document, I had to sign up for 4 seperate pages, and interlink them. Each was named something like jmb1.html, jmb2.html, etc.

After Ohio State U.'s server quit allowing free pages to non-students, I signed up with a service named Dollarweb. I think their URL was http://www.docuserv.com/docupages, and I think my URL with them was http://www.docuserv.com/docupages/branum_j.

They were in business for about a year, but they went under, since back in those days they couldn't stay in business if they only charged folks $1/1 MEG/1 month.

My site then moved to Clever Computers. At Clever, I set up my own business, to help subsidize the cost of the space. My business, WestOK.net (http://clever.net/westok.nuet, is in the business of creating web pages for people. It began business in the fall of 1995, with our first customer, The Oklahoma Federation of College Republicans (http://www.prospect1.com/OFCR).

On a sidenote, WestOK.net was the first webspace provider in Western Oklahoma.

Soon after that , I got a partner in the business, Aaron Young, who has taught me how to make my pages more artistic and graphical.

At the beginning of the summer of 1997, I moved my site to Prospect1.com, when one of my customers decided to get his own domain name. At that time, Aaron decided to go independent, and his business, AJY Design is now located at http://www.ajy.net.

At the end of the Summer, my customer who had acquired the domain name Prospect1.com, went out of business. Since he was in a contractual obligation with me, I released him from it, with the payment of a penalty, along with allowing me to take over the domain name. At that point, my business changed its name to Prospect1.com Enterprises, and I established it as a sole proprietership out of Austin, Texas.

Here are some of my old pages that I kept around. . .

Here are some other pages from my personal page that have become rather dated, but I wanted to keep in the archives
